II. PUBLIC COMMENTS Glen Ellyn resident Henry Lewis had questions for the EC

board regarding composting after he attended the One Earth Film Festival regarding

4. Tree Planning Initiative Commissioner Ryan met with the Public Works

department to discuss the tree planning initiative. PW felt the EC s role is to

work with residents with regards to tree planting on their property and the Park

District is responsible for trees in the parks. The Public Works department is

revisit the tree strategy and vision for the EC at the next meeting.

C. Health, Wellness, Transportation Subcommittee Report John Zelasco

1. Zagstar Staff Liaison Cabrera reports we are still talking with Warrenville and

Winfield to get them solidly in this program. Northwestern Medicine would like

2. Habitat Restore Recycling Staff Liaison Cabrera reports that the pamphlet has

been put together. It is currently being reviewed and will be put into the

demolition packets once approved.

3. Coal Tar Resolution- Commissioner Zelasco reports that he is meeting with Bill

Holmer tomorrow and will have an update next month.

4. Mooring Resolution Staff Liaison Cabrera reports that signs and designs have

been approved and we are moving forward on this. The signs will be placed at the

entrances west and east of the Prairie Path.

5. Recycling Extravaganza Commissioner Zelasco reports that flyers have been put

up around town for this event (see attached flyer). All vendors have been

confirmed. Commissioner Zelasco presented a power point presentation to the EC

board on the Recycling Extravaganza. He is continually spreading the word on

this event and asks the EC board to do the same. Staff Liaison Cabrera has

coordinated the various other departments that take part in this event. The EC

board will also be volunteering at the event.

D. Energy Sustainability/Recycle Subcommittee Report, Jeff Abeln

1. 2018 Cool DuPage Initiative: Commissioner Abeln reports that he will be having a

meeting with Cool DuPage to see if we can make the Civic Center more energy

efficient. Com-Ed will also do an audit to assist with that.

2. Solar Initiative Commissioner Abeln reports that the Future Energy Jobs Act will

kick in for this initiative. We are also looking for College of DuPage to take part in

this initiative. This will be on the new business agenda for next month.

VII. Trustee Liaison Report Trustee Enright reports that the board passed an increase

in sales tax from 1 to 1-1/4 . This is to help offset the lost money from the state

and our budget shortfall. We still have projects that need funding. The board is

looking for grants to help fund some of these projects. Also the board is moving

forward with Public Works updating the water meters. The new meters will notify the

village if a resident has a potential water leak.

VIII. Staff Liaison s Report Staff Liaison Cabrera reports that the subcommittee

agendas have been put on line and will no longer go under the EC. Agendas must be

turned in 1 week prior to the subcommittee meeting. Cabrera also informed the EC

that she found out that her fellowship will be in Indiana. She will be moving there in

May. She will be at one more EC meeting.

IX. Park District Liaison Report Renae Frigo

A. Earth Day Park District Liaison Frigo asks the EC board to join in at the boat
