ITEM 5 GENERAL ITEMS

A.
Complete Count Committee

No additional detail provided

In 2000 and 2010, the Onslow Civic Affairs Committee was designated as the

Complete Count Committee for our area. The Committee stands ready to perform this task again.

In 2010, they expanded the effort with special committees that dealt with

special populations. Their most active group dealt with the misconception that

families with deployed persons should not be counted in Onslow County.

Many believed they should not fill out the forms because they were told not to

list their loved one who was deployed, but they should. Efforts to effectively educate the military community in advance of the next Census will be critical

to obtaining an accurate count.

The group has helped to champion the effort to have deployed military count at the base where they came from, and intend to return to. They celebrate that victory and are eager to ensure that family members of those deployed properly

fill out their forms during this Census.

Onslow Civic Affairs stands ready to accept the mantle of the Complete Count Committee and have already met with Census officials and are well-prepared

to begin the work.

Specific Action Requested: It is respectfully requested that the

The statutes allow the County to sell property that no longer serves a public purpose and is uneconomical or inefficient. The County's standard practice has

been to sell surplus property using the Negotiated Offer, Advertisement, and
