Since the inauguration of President Trump, there have been multiple reports of immigrants deciding not to contact local law enforcement to report

crimes they have been the victims of or have knowledge of. Immigrants across the country, particularly those without legal status in the United States, are afraid that if they report a crime to their local law enforcement agency, they will be deported. In Los Angeles, the Police Department (LAPD) has noted a significant drop in reports of serious crimes in Latino communities not seen in other communities. This includes fewer reports of particularly heinous crimes such as domestic violence and sexual assault.
